The 12 Biggest Problems with the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max

Top 12 Big Problems With The iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max

Today we are going to talk about the biggest problems with iPhone 13 pro and pro max.

It's a great phone, but there are still some issues with it, some of which can be fixed others that we might have to wait for the iPhone 14:(

Wifi 6e

Wifi on iPhone 13

No big deal, but it doesn't support wi-fi 6e later, which is a shame, there were some rumors that it would support the latest version of wi-fi, which theoretically is the same speed as wi-fi 6, but since the 6e uses its own dedicated 6 gigahertz radio wave spectrum, it's less congested and therefore you're more likely to have better bandwidth and therefore more likely to reach these potential maximum speeds now you need a WiFi router 6e also as compatible devices.

it's still very rare, but most flagship Android phones, if they have snapdragon 888, support it but not on the iPhone, so it's another thing to wait for the iPhone 14, hopefully, it's not a big deal now and hardly anyone have a 6e wifi router in terms of future protection because you might want to keep it for 2 to 4 years.

Always On Display

The second problem, which was rumored to be coming but unfortunately didn't materialize, is having a screen always on the iPhone 13 pro and pro max again.  it's a pretty standard feature on Android right now, and while you might argue that it drains your battery well, it drains your battery, the flip side of it is that you might not have to unlock your photos often to check what's going on, because you can.

in one look to see all your notifications and this could end up saving battery anyway, it's a moot point because we don't have support for this again, but it's something I'd like to see possibilities that could come up with ios 16 or an update. it's not necessarily something we'd have to wait for a brand new iPhone to see, but now that's okay, no problem!

Auto-Brightness & Screen Dimming

Auto-Brightness & Screen Dimming

When I searched for this article, I found some people who had auto-brightness and screen dimming issues.  There are a few things here, first of all, you can turn off auto-brightness if you want, it's in the accessibility and screen settings something that's a bit hidden and most people don't know it's there, so you can turn that off and that prevents while dimming the screen based on the ambient light around you.

it also happens that the true tone can cause some dimming issues depending on the environment, so generally, I recommend turning off the true tone mainly because it can cause the dimming that some people are experiencing, although this could also have been fixed with an update to Me I often forget that I called and edited a photo in lightroom or Instagram or something and posted it and realized, uh, I had a real tone, so my pics are so much nicer in real life and I kind of forget about it. So while the true tone is good in terms of blue light reduction and a little more comfortable for your eyes, especially in low light for me, least I prefer to turn off the true tone.

Auto Macro

So this next issue was widely discussed when these iPhones were released and many reviews mentioned that the camera would automatically switch between the main and ultra-wide angle lens. when you get close to your subject, you get this weird ghosting transition effect, so in many situations, you don't want to use the ultra-wide one you want to keep with the main one.

So, hats off to apple, they recognized this problem and fixed it. It's in beta 3 from developer ios 15.1 now, I believe it will come to the public version soon. it may already be while you're reading this, but in the camera settings, we now have this auto macro toggle, so I suggest you make sure it's off so it doesn't automatically toggle unless you do it manually.

ProRes Video

Continuing with the camera and another new feature we've had with the latest update, it's support for video pros from Apple, they're talking about that, but it just came out now and you can record at a much higher bitrate.

Much higher quality video at up to 4k 30. but there are some issues with that first of all, you can't shoot in 4k 60, it maxes out at 4k30 which is nice but having the 60fps option is good for videographers who like to slow down download footage in editing to get slow motion, but the biggest issue is file sizes and getting the files off the phone because we're talking about six GB of storage for every minute shot at 4k, it's like 600 megabits per second of data realistically, if you're going to record a lot of that, go for at least 512 if not the terabyte storage option, but the biggest issue is how do you get these huge files off the phone?

you can airdrop it to your MacBook or mac or something or your iPad, but you'll need a very fast internet connection if you have tens or hundreds of GB of videos to transfer.

Slow Lighting Port

or you can do this over a wide connection, but since we still have this lightning port instead of the latest USB-C ray, this is essentially USB 2, so it's painfully slow and would have been a good reason for Apple to update it to USB-C as it did on all iPads except the cheaper base iPad, which is the only other device that still has an illumination port, which makes removing these files from the phone a little frustrating. it really must be USB-C with thunderbolt 3 like we have on the high-end iPads.

Cinematic Mode

So, we have this cinematic mode that impressed me, although I would suggest reducing the bokeh blur a bit to make it less artificial, the problem is that you can only record 1080p 30 and while 4k would have been good, actually the most important would be an option to shoot in 1080p 24, which is a more cinematic frame rate.

Touch Issue

Another problem that some users were having, but it seems to have been fixed with the latest updates is that the user's finger didn't register the touches, especially in the youtube app, I could touch a photo thumbnail, it just wouldn't start, it wouldn't start to play, you would have to tap the profile picture or open and restart the app, it's something I know some people have tried, but with the latest 15.1 beta 3 software, it doesn't seem to be happening anymore.

so that was another issue like auto macro mode with the camera, but again it looks like Apple has fixed it, so just some initial issues with a new launch, it seems.

Universal Back Swipe

Speaking of the software though, I have a few things on my wish list, especially since someone jumped out of a boat with an Android phone recently and the first one is that I wish we had a universal back button, most apps allow you to slide off the left to right go back, but not all, and sometimes you have to go to the top left corner and press back, which is a little weird for the iPhone 13 pro max size. but since you often use the phone with your right hand, it would be very convenient to be able to swipe from the right side to go back as smoothly as we do on Android.

No Split Screen

Split-Screen.jpg

Also particularly on the iPhone 13 pro max with this huge 6.7-inch screen, the fact that we still don't have any sort of split-screen multitasking option is a bit frustrating and also considering how good the split-screen mode is on iPads.

Charging

Charging iPhone.jpg

Now, one of the absolute highlights with these new iPhones and particularly the iPhone 13 pro max is the battery life, but the problem is that charging hasn't continued and although it technically supports 27 watts, charging isn't much faster than just the basic 20 watts.

it's only about 2 minutes faster charging up to 50% and in my tests, it takes the same 1 hour 46 minutes to complete up to 100%, so although this technology supports higher watts, it doesn't make much difference to the charging speed it still is way behind some of the Android competitors.

Fingerprint

fingerprint.jpg

Finally, I must say that I would love to see a fingerprint reader on the iPhone. it's something we had in the older ones with the touch id home button that we still have on the iPad, but not the iPhone, which isn't the end of the world, because true depth face identification is the best in the business, especially with the sensor go.

so it's great in low light, but when you're out and want to pay for things you know through content less and you have to put your mask on face ID for me, at least I'd like to have one on-screen or even just an on/off switch that works like a fingerprint reader, but maybe that's just me: <

Final Thought

So that's a lot of complaints about the iPhone, but don't get me wrong, it's an excellent phone! I still recommend it, I think the 13 pro is probably the best phone in the world right now for most people.

Nothing is perfect, there's always room for improvement, and it was good to see that Apple has already addressed some of the initial issues through software updates,

but how about you? are there any other issues you've experienced with the iPhone 13 Pro or Pro Max

that maybe I'm missing let me know in the comments below!
